Rites and Ranks

The Templar Order can be divided into two parts, the Inner Sanctum and the Outer Temple. The Inner Sanctum consists of a select group of 9 Templars. Those members have direct knowledge of all Templar plans, make decisions and send out orders. As for the Outer Sanctum, members do not have access to the full slate of Templar operations and are kept in the dark from the details that the Inner Sanctum is privy to.

Positions within the Templar Order

The Guardians: Members who review major decisions made by the Inner Sanctum, before passing them along to the General of the Cross for approval. Three Guardian positions are available within the Templar Order.

The General of the Cross: the one who’s responsible for the ultimate approach of decisions and plans. He has the power to veto important decision made by the Inner Sanctum. His identity is kept secret even from other Templars. Presumably, only the Guardians know who The General of the Cross is.

The Grand Master: one of the highest rank attainable within the Templar Order. There are several Grand Masters, each being responsible for a geographical region. Grand Masters are the leaders a specific rite and have control over all Templar members of that rite and their activities.

The Master Templars: mid to high-ranking Templars who hold various important positions within the Order. There are several Templars who hold this rank.

A faction or division of the Templar Order is referred to as a Rite. Rites are defined geographically, example: the Colonial Rite or the Parisian Rite.
