A mysterious E-mail from EBGames, the largest video game retailer in Australia which claims that the Shroud of Eden was located in Bayek’s memories. The E-mail also claims that the Animus version in use is 1.28, which is the one in the first Assassin’s Creed game. In that version, Altair could not swim due to Animus issues, while Bayek can swim and also dive and fight underwater.
There hasn’t been any official comment regarding the legitimacy of this e-mail. Multiple users have received it and from its official source, according to a thread on Reddit, but the details seem to contrast with what we known so far, as Alvaro Grammatica already has the Shroud of Eden in present day.
Could this mean that the modern day of Assassin’s Creed: Origins is a prequel? and if so, how can an old version of the Animus software now allow swimming, even when it did not before? could it be that this is merely referencing a side mission or one of the “exotic moments” that director Ashraf Ismail referred to in his interview with Eurogamer, or the “Juno Events” which we discovered in the E3 demo, where we might see Juno finding the prototype Shroud of Eden in Consus’ lab? or could this possibly be referring to a DLC set in Greece, where the Golden Fleece (the historical name for one of the versions of the Shroud of Eden in Ancient Greece) once existed? Another speculation, which can be quite a stretch, which is that due to the presence of Animus 1.28, as well as numerous graphics in the email that refer to ACI, a potential connection to Atlair or the first AC game, in general could be expected, or perhaps a remaster could be released and conjoined with Assassin’s Creed: Origins.
