An Assassin’s Creed Panel was hosted as PAX earlier, where the Lead Director of Assassin’s Creed Origins, Ashraf Ismail along with Brand Historian, Maxime Durand revealed some details about the story and the world of the highly anticipated next Assassin’s Creed installment. Here’s a summary of what was revealed:
- Egyptian, Greek and Latin graffiti will be present in the game.
- By the time Bayek meets Cleopatra she will have already been exiled by Ptolemy’s advisors.
- Ptolemy is being manipulated by The Order of the Ancients as they seek to take control over Egypt.
- At the beginning of the game, Bayek leaves his hometown of Siwa to Alexandria where he meets Aya who’s there for different reasons.
- Among the ideas which Origins will explore is that the birth of the Brotherhood originated from a husband and a wife.
- Origins will also let players experience The Siege of Alexandria, when Bayek and Caesar escaped an attack on a chariot, as reveled earlier in screenshots.
- Like Bayek, Aya is also on journey to find out what happened in Siwa at the beginning of the game. On the other hand, her journey is a different one.
- Alexandria is an ordered and structured city that is different from the other cities in the game featuring a mixture of Egyptian, Roman and Greek cultures.
- The Great Library of Alexandria was the greatest existing library of its time, and it was a center of knowledge for the entire Mediterranean basin as people copied books from different parts of the world to have the biggest archive of knowledge in one place.
- Another interesting location which the Codex revealed a concept art for by Martin Deschambault for, few days earlier, is Kyrenaika (Cyrene), a Greek city founded approximately 700 years prior to the events of Origins. During these times, it has been under the Egyptian rule for 200 years until Egypt eventually gifted it to Rome to settle a debt to it.
- Pharaohs often visit Siwa and its Oracle for a good Omen and to be confirmed as gods on Earth. Alexander The Great was the first Greek who received the Omen.
- Hippodromes are present in the game through some missions/quests to explain why Bayek is interested in them, but eventually it becomes optional. Maxime Durand added that there were numerous hippodromes around Egypt during that time.
- NASA collaborated with Ubisoft to provide satellite images which helped crafting the world of the game.
- It was also confirmed, and to the pleasure of most longtime fans of the brand that Origins features numerous anecdotes and tales that will connect the game to its predecessors in the franchise.
- By the end of the stream, a teaser titled “Into The Creed” was shown, a documentary which is projected to be released soon.
The panel can be watched, here.
