Azaîzia Aymar, Assassin’s Creed Head of Content joined a live Q&A on Reddit, hosted by the Assassin’s Creed Subreddit, to answer questions about the Assassin’s Creed Movie and brand, in general. The full Q&A can be viewed here.

  • When asked regarding the idea that the next Assassin’s Creed game will be less focused on the narrative, he completely denied it, stating that the narrative is among the most important parts of the franchise.
  • Another user asked him about bringing back the modern day, he responded that the modern day story is important and that it’s being developed through transmedia as well as the main games, and that they’re going to “nail it” when they make the modern day segments for the games.
  • Speaking of the deleted scenes and Lara’s character, he commented that the actress did a very good job but her scenes were removed as they were deemed forced and unnecessary.
  • Replying to a question regarding a potential Cold War setting for the next movie, Aymar said that he never heard anything about that and the only planned elements for now regarding the movie was the BluRay/DVD releases.
  • Aymar also stated that in different iteration of the movie script, the Apple of Eden was referenced in plural, and the fact that in some scenes, the dialogue implies that Abstergo has no knowledge of other Pieces of Eden is a mistake, and that the movie is in the same canon as the games.
  • Discussing Sophia Rikkin’s lineage (a theory by The Codex), Aymar’s response confirmed that the phantom seen in the movie during the appearance of the Assassins around Cal is indeed an ancestor of Sophia Rikkin and that she’s of an Assassin descent.
  • Responding to a series of questions by a user, Aymar said that The Elders and The Chairwoman (Ellen Kaye) are not of a higher rank than The General of the Cross nor is Ellen Kaye, the general, herself. He also added that Ojeda is not a Sage, despite having heterochromia.
  • Aymar provided a detailed explanation about why Abstergo in the movie decided to use the Animus Claw/Arm instead of the Chair:

“The “chair version”, are safest, and if you want the full lenght theory on Animus, brace yourself. When you are getting into an Animus machine, the way the time goes depends on how close you are to your ancestor. If you are using Helix and someone else memory, the timescale is 1:1

So if you want to dig and information but have no idea when it happened, it could take you months or years in the Animus, that’s why Abstergo is usually using Helix with masses, to process tons of data at once.If you are in direct line, time could flies and a couple of hours in the simulation could allow you to process weeks of memories.

The chair VS standing versions are about allowing you, or even forcing you (with the arm), to sync and remain on sync with your ancestor. A way to guarantee that the subject will be efficient quickly, but the chances of triggering a bleeding effect, and hurting the psyche of a subject increases accordingly.

Therefore seeing Abstergo pushing people because they are rushed, not caring about frying their brain, and having a post trauma process in place seemed to work well for us. I think it’s the first time I told anyone outside of the franchise about that”
