MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD. PROCEED WITH CAUTION
One of the pre-order missions, The Blind King features a major easter egg from a famous Ubisoft title that hasn’t seen updates for over 8 years now. The mission itself is titled “Prince of Persia” which revolves around a blind man named Artaxerexes who travelled from Persia to Greece to “see” the world through the tales that Kassandra/Alexios tells him, describing the most pivotal locations. As we progress, we realize that the man is in fact the son of Xerexes, who killed King Leonidas. He is indeed a prince of Persia, and his brother who reigns, often sends men tasked with killing him.
The mission comes as another easter egg to the aforementioned game, after Origins had an outfit titled “Persian Prince” and other references to Persia. Prince of Persia is a game developed by Ubisoft one of its installments was meant to be titled “Prince of Persia: Assassins” which evolved into what is known today as Assassin’s Creed (2007), giving birth to our beloved franchise. Whether this is merely a nod to another Ubisoft title or a hint to a future continuation of some sort for the franchise remains to be seen. Until then, enjoy Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and stay tuned for more updates!
