In an interview with Segment Next, Assassin’s Creed Origins lead director, Ashraf Ismail sheds light on Origins being the richest Assassin’s Creed game by far, in terms of playable content and story. Here’s a summary of the interview:
- Assassin’s Creed Origins focuses one story without any dialogue options or multiple endings, yet with the presence of the new quest-based structure, players will have the freedom to choose amongst a large variety of meaningful main and side quests that they can approach however and whenever they see fit. The way players tackle the one main story will directly impact their global experience.
- Players who choose to delve deep into the quests system will experience intersecting stories and explore deeper relationship ties with the characters.
- In order to fill up a world the size of ancient Egypt, Origins introduces a new AI that is smarter and more capable of giving human and animal characters an entire life of their own. Most NPCs have full day cycles where they work, socialize, eat, go to the bathroom, sleep and so on based on their role in the world. Bandits ambush and steal, Ptolemaic soldiers collect taxes and protect their military locations, priests manage their temples, farmers farm, lions hunt, gazelles roam and sleep etc. Most NPCs are ever persistent and will live their life even if the player is kilometers away. Through the Eagle Senu, players are able to see these events from very far away to determine where the action is and where they want to go next.
- Assassin’s Creed Origins is primarily a single player experience, it will also contain some connected features designed to enrich players’ sessions.
- The focus on the story in Assassin’s Creed Origins is the most significant by far as the game will explore the birth of the brotherhood along with many of its tenants and rituals such as the finger removal. In addition to that, the chosen time period of the game which features Cleopatra’s ascension, Julius Caesar and Ptolemy -the boy king- will add a lot of story value to the game, showing a global clash of civilizations.
- While it’s impossible to tell how many hours will Origins approximately take, the game is by far the richest Assassin’s Creed game to date in terms of playable content and it’ll take players dozens and dozens of hours to completely finish.
