Back in 2011, a cinematic footage from an Assassin’s Creed-related project surfaced, showcasing a mysterious character on an operating table with a cold doctor injecting him and an eerie conversation go on between the two regarding the patient being already dead. The nearby monitor shows the Abstergo logo alongside the following text:

– 04/12/1978
Followed by “WAITING FOR VITAL SIGNS”.
The date could the patients date of birth or the date the case study is being performed. If it’s the latter, it places the whole event during the Cold War. Judging by the conversation and the text on the screen, Abstergo was trying to use the Animus on human subjects (in the early phases, according to the atmosphere and the tech used) and the subject is either dying and having that conversation in their head, in other words, his consciousness that is trapped in the Animus is having this conversation, or the doctor is simply playing mind games with him.
