Uprising Introduces The Isu

Since its announcement as both Apogee and later Defiance which eventually evolved into Uprising, the Assassin’s Creed comic series promised to tie the stories of two previous comic series, Assassins and Templars and seek to show the climax of The Phoenix Project and Juno’s story.

SPOILERS FROM UPRISING #4 – BE WARNED

Uprising Issue #4 shockingly introduced the world of the Isu for the very first time, showing Juno, Minerva and Juno‘s father, discussing how the Isu sees humanity, who were their slaves at the time, are starting to rebel against their creators, The Isu, and the aforementioned members are arguing whether humanity’s unrest should be silenced with war, or ended by allowing humanity to live as more than just slaves and be equals to the Isu, with Minerva and Juno’s father being compassionate towards humanity and Juno being against them, considering them mere savages that need to saved from themselves.

Meanwhile, a human servant is sneaks into the room from behind Juno’s father and stabs him in the head, killing him, enraging Juno and forcing her to use the Koh-i-Noor diamond (a Piece of Eden) to stop the human servant and his companions. Despite this, Minerva still insists not to use violence, while Juno tearfully promises to save humanity from themselves.

According to Ancient Roman mythology, Juno is the daughter of the God Saturn (also known as Cronus in Greek Mythology) and his wife Ops, therefore, Juno’s father from the Assassin’s Creed lore is also Saturn, and the character in the comics shares great resemblance to him.

It must be noted that the story of Juno’s father’s demise was previously told to Desmond Miles by Juno in Assassin’s Creed III in one of her cryptic emails.

Assassin’s Creed: Uprising #4 is available today. You can get it from the iTunes Store, or Comixology.
