CREATION OF THE PIECES OF EDEN Sometime prior to the year 160,000 BCE (approximately 82,694 before Isu Era dating system began), the Pieces of Eden were created by the First Civilization. This information is based on a timeline created by Abstergo Industries in a confidential presentation for The Phoenix Project, showcasing The Ankh, The Sword and The Apple of Eden. It is unclear of more Pieces of Eden were created around that time, who created them, what their world looked like at the time or what purpose were they made for. WAR OF UNIFICATION A war that involved Isu civilizations that took place sometime prior to the year 1923 IE (circa 75,383 BCE). This war lead to the creation of the Swords of Eden by Hephaestus, leading to numerous casualties. The exact motives and reasons for this war are unknown. CREATION OF THE SHROUD In response to the rising mortality rate due to the War of Unification, the Isu scientist and Hephaestus' apprentice, Consus, created the first Shroud of Eden to act as medicinal field kit capable of treating the casualties of the war. Consus' own consciousness was stored inside the artifact, resulting in his ability to possess the bodies of the artifact's users temporarily upon activation. Other shrouds were created, but the original is said to feature a man's visage. Church records stated that the visage changed multiple times throughout history. THE BIRTH OF JUNO Juno, an Isu member and a scientist, who grew to become one of the most pivotal members of her civilization, was born into the Illuminate Caste, in Feyan city. THE PROTOTYPE SHROUD Juno managed to recover the prototype version of the Shroud of Eden, which is housing the consciousness of Consus. ADAM AND EVE TURN THEIR BACKS ON EDEN Adam and Eve, two humans born from interbreeding between humans and Isu members, due to their missing brain receptor from interbreeding, managed to steal an Apple of Eden from a laboratory in Eden and escape and staging the Human vs. Isu rebellion which spanned ten years. In the meantime, Jupiter, Juno and Minerva retreated to underground laboratories to find solutions to prevent an impending solar flare from exterminating their civilization. Six solutions were found, none of which worked, either due to being time inefficient or impossible/dangerous. TOBA CATASTROPHE A solar flare struck the Earth, exterminating most of the Earth's population. Less than ten thousand humans, and far fewer members of the First Civilization, survived the catastrophe. Henceforth, humanity and the First Civilization started working together to rebuild civilization. END OF THE FLOOD Judeo-Christian Tradition and Mesopotamian mythology both tell similar tales of a great flood where an ark that carried pairs of every known animal preserved life on Earth while the rest perished. Noah's Ark found its resting place on Mount Ararat, a dormant compound volcano cones: Greater Ararat and Lesser Ararat. In 2012, Abstergo Industries theorized that the mount could be home for an Isu Temple. THE SUMERIAN SAGE According to Cuneiform tablets, a story of an identified Sage who lived in Sumerian times is told. The geographical and chronological placements of the story bare striking resemblance to the Epic of Gilgamesh. In 2014, Abstergo Entertainment discovered the clues about this Sage and he's mentioned in the confidential part of their employee handbook, specifically in the Isu section, and it is strictly meant to by read by its Templar employees. THE FIRST WIELDER OF THE STAFF Moses, a religious leader, prophet and lawgiver to the Hebrews of Canaan, and the man to whom the Torah is credited to is the first known human wielder of The Staff of Eden. THE TEMPORARY REVIVAL OF BRUTUS Marcus Junius Brutus committed suicide on October 23rd, when he was almost defeated by Marcus Antonius and Octavian at the Battle of Philippi. THE SECRET BENEATH THE COLOSSEUM During the reign of the Roman emperor, Vespasian, the construction of the famous Roman Colosseum began, to be located right on top of an Ancient vault, also known as The Temple of Juno. AQUILUS, ACCIPITER AND THE ANKH The Gallo-Roman Assassin Aquilus was taken captive by Romans under command of general Gracchus. An army of Alemanni soldiers, led by the Assassin Accipiter, defeated the Roman legion and saved Aquilus. Later, Aquilus acquired the Ankh from Accipiter and transported it to his family's villa in Lugdunum. The Roman senator and Templar, Caïus Fulvus Vultur, killed Lucius and his servant Weke to obtain the Ankh, and brought it with him to Rome. Aquilus killed Caïus Fulvus Vultur inside his villa in Rome, and took the Ankh back to his home in Lugdunum, where he watched a recording made by his father using the artifact. Since both his parents are Assassins, Altair grew up within the ranks of the brotherhood, becoming a master Assassin and mentor at the early age of 27. He reformed the brotherhood, playing an historical role in restoring it to its former glory. BETRAYAL. EXECUTION. REMORSE. Sultan Salaḥ ad-Din laid siege to the Levantine Assassins' fortress in Masyaf. Acting on information received from Ahmad Sofian, the Assassins' leader Al Mualim tasked Umar Ibn-La'Ahad with infiltrating the enemy camp, where he left a note tied to a dagger in Salaḥ ad-Dīn's tent. Shihab ad-Din, uncle to Salaḥ ad-Din, brokered a truce with the Assassins on the condition that Umar Ibn-La'Ahad be executed for taking the life of a Ayyubid nobleman during his infiltration of their camp. Against Al Mualim's will, Umar voluntarily had his life taken. Ahmad Sofian committed suicide inside the quarters of Umar Ibn-La'Ahad in front of his son, Altaïr because of his remorse over giving Umar's name to the Saracens while in their captivity. A TRAITOR'S END When Haras, an Assassin turned Templar led an attack with the Templars on the Masyaf Assassin fortress, Altair Ibn-La'Ahad assassinated him, saving the life of Al Mualim. Therefore, Altair was promoted to the rank of Master Assassin. THE CHALICE Al Mualim tasked Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad with finding the Chalice, an ancient artifact that held powers similar to a Piece of Eden. Altair learned that the Chalice could be held at the Temple of the Sand. Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad killed Harash, the second-in-command of Al Mualim, after hearing of his betrayal from Adha, who revealed herself to be the Chalice. THE APPLE, THE TEACHER AND THE NINE FEATHERS JULY: Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad and the brothers Malik and Kadar Al-Sayf infiltrated the Jerusalem Vault to retrieve an Apple of Eden. After encountering Templars led by Grand Master Robert de Sable, Kadar was killed and Malik lost his left arm, though the latter brought the artifact back to Masyaf. Altair would then go on a journey to assassinate nine targets, each of whom gave Altair an insight into a conflict larger than himself, which would ultimately lead Altair to question everything he'd ever learned. THE TRAITOR WITHIN Upon Assassinating Robert De Sable, Altair learns that there was a tenth man who was seeking the Apple of Eden, and that is no other than Al Mualim himself. Altair returned with haste back to Masyaf to confront Al Mualim only to discover that he used the Apple to brainwash the people of Masyaf with it and force them to worship him. Altair managed to encounter and Assassinate Al Mualim and acquire the Apple. Later, Abbas Sofian sparked a minor civil war among the Assassins against Altaïr. Abbas stole their Mentor's Apple of Eden, though it slowly began killing him, until he was saved by Altaïr, who succeeded Al Mualim as Mentor of the Levantine Brotherhood, afterwards. RISING AGAINST THE GENGHIS KHAN Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, his wife Maria and their son Darim travelled to Masyaf to oppose the rise of the Mongol Empire and eliminate Genghis Khan. Malik Al-Sayf was left to lead the Assassins, with help of Altair's youngest son, Sef. MURDER FOR POWER Sef, son of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, was killed by Swami, an Assassin apprentice, on orders of Abbas Sofian, in an attempt to claim control of the Levantine Brotherhood. Abbas framed Malik Al-Sayf for the murder of Sef, who placed a council in charge of the Levantine Assassins, with himself at its head. THE DEMISE OF GENGHIS KHAN In February, Jochi Khan, the first son of the Mongol warlord Genghis Khan, was fatally poisoned by the Assassin Darim Ibn-La'Ahad. Later in August, Darim assassinated Genghis Khan, ruler of the Mongol Empire in China, after he fell off his horse when it was shot by Qulan Gal. AN OLD FRIEND'S DEMISE Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, Maria Thorpe and their son Darim returned to Masyaf, where they were informed of the ruling council. Darim traveled to Alamut to meet with Sef's wife and children. Malik Al-Sayf was rescued by Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad from Masyaf's dungeons, from whom Altaïr heard the truth about his son Sef's death. In Altaïr's and Maria's absence, Swami beheaded Malik and delivered his head to Altair and Maria in a burlap sack. STRENGTH...ALTAIR Altaïr and Maria confronted Abbas in the Masyaf fortress. Abbas demanded that Altair hand over the Apple, in exchange for telling about how their son, Sef died. After being taunted by Swami, telling him they told Sef that his father ordered his death, Altaïr used the Apple to force Swami to kill himself. In the ensuing frenzy, Swami fatally stabbed Maria. Altaïr escaped Masyaf with help from his son Darim. THE EXODUS TO ALAMUT After escaping from Masyaf with Darim, Altair travelled with his son to Perisa and exiled himself to the Assassins' fortress at Alamut, while Abbas usurped the title of Mentor. THE MENTOR'S RETURN The merchant Mukhlis was rescued from the Bayhas brigands outside Masyaf by Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, who had returned from his self-imposed exile in Alamut. Altaïr started gaining the support of the Levantine Assassins and Masyaf's villagers in attempting to take back the declining Brotherhood under Abbas Sofian, and befriended Malik Al-Sayf's son Tazim. Altair assassinated Abbas Sofian using the Hidden Gun, during a non-violent assault on Masyaf fortress by Altaïr and his supporters, who was welcomed as Mentor of the Levantine Brotherhood. Shortly afterwards, the construction of the hidden library beneath the fortress of Masyaf began under orders of Altaïr. THE SCEPTER AND THE MYSTERY ASSASSIN The Scepter of Isis, a Piece of Eden with the power to give its wielder power and charisma to lead, was acquired by an unidentified Egyptian Assassin and brought it to the rebelling Mamluks, in Egypt, who used it to remove the reigning Ayyubid dynasty from power and set the foundations of the Bahri dynasty. THE DESTRUCTION OF ALAMUT During his destruction of the Levantine Assassin holdings, Hülegü Khan destroyed the Assassin fortress in Alamut. THE SECRET CRUSADE In January, Niccolò and Maffeo Polo arrived in Masyaf on invitation of their friend Darim Ibn-La'Ahad, and became acquainted with the Mentor Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. Later in July, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad and his son Darim began training Niccolò and Maffeo Polo in the ways of the Assassin Brotherhood, in the hopes that they'd spread their ideology to the west. Niccolò started writing his journal, The Secret Crusade, detailing Altaïr's life. REST... Hülegü Khan began the Mongol siege on the Assassin fortress at Masyaf, in August 12th, ultimately rendering the fortress abandoned. Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad guided Niccolò and Maffeo Polo out of the city and granted them his Codex, the Masyaf Keys and several books, and allowed the rest of the Brotherhood to escape. Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad locked himself inside his library with the Apple of Eden and imprinting his last memory into the sixth Memory Seal and sat to rest till he passed away. WISDOM LOST Two days after Altair Ibn-La'Ahad passed away in his library in Masyaf, Niccolò and Maffeo Polo were attacked by a Mongol raiding party in the Syrian countryside, and lost Altair's Codex. They left to Constantinople and in January of the following year, they established an Assassin guild there, during the reign of the Byzantine Empire, scattered Altair's book all over the city and stored the Masyaf Keys within underground tombs. Despite journeying from Constantinople to the Mongol Empire the year after, the Niccolo and Maffeo could not retrieve the Codex of Altair. HERETICS Under influence of Mentor Guillaume de Nogaret, The Knights Templar were branded heretics by King Philip IV of France, and their Temple in Paris was besieged, resulting in the arrests of numerous Templars including Grand Master Jacques de Molay, whose advisor hid the Sword of Eden and the Codex Pater Intellectus, before being subsequently assassinated by Master Assassin Thomas de Carneillon, on October 13th. END OF THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR On March 18th, the last publicly recognized Grand Master of the Order of the Knights Templar and Sage, Jacques de Molay, allowed himself to be executed, and was burned at the stake alongside Geoffroi de Charney. Before his death, de Molay sent nine of his most trusted followers across the world to continue the Templar Order's objectives, thereby saving the lives of his brethren and letting the world believe that his order died along with him while it thrives behind the scenes. INFERNO Prior to the execution of Jacques De Molay, the Templars thought that the Assassins are destroyed due to the destruction of the Levantine Brotherhood and Masyaf. However, De Molay knew that they're behind the siege on the Templars and they're very much alive. On September 13th, 1321, The Templars killed Dante Alighieri, an Italian poet and Assassin, thereby confirming the continued existence of the Assassin Brotherhood. Two years later, The Brothers and Zurburg (who had two children with Martina Wagner: Christof Ison and Wolfgang Scholz) vanished, never to be seen or heard from again. GUARDIANS OF THE SHROUD The Assassins took the original Shroud of Eden from Geoffroi de Charny, a French knight and Templar who is the first historically-recorded owner of the Shroud of Turin, and replaced it with a forgery. The Shroud was buried underneath the Villa Auditore under orders from a member of the Auditore family. Geoffroy Thérage, an ancestor of Dr. Warren Vidic was the executioner. However, the woman who was executed was Fleur, a protege of the Assassin brotherhood who willingly sacrificed herself, taking Jeanne's place. The Heart of the Sword of Eden, which Fleur was wearing, could not turn to ashes, leading Thérage to throw it into the Seine, with her ashes. THE FALL OF BYZANTIUM The capital of the Byzantine Empire, Constantinople, was conquered by Sultan Mehmet II of the Ottoman Empire, utilizing an Apple of Eden, effectively destroying the Byzantine Empire. In June of the following year, Prince Cem hid his Apple of Eden in the Templar Archive on Cyprus after realizing the artifact refused to communicate with him, so that the European Templars could find it. After meeting with the Knights Hospitaller on Rhodes Island, Prince Cem was betrayed by them and sent to be imprisoned in Europe, where he became acquainted with Grand Master Rodrigo Borgia in Italy. A QUEST FOR VENGEANCE - PART II Between the years 1485 and 1486 AD, Assassin Ezio Auditore continued his quest for revenge against the Templars who conspired against his family, taking the lives of Emilio Barbarigo with the aid of the Thieves Guild, and Carlo Grimaldi, with the aid of Leonardo Da Vinci's Flying machine, in September of 1485. Later on July 11th, Ezio Assassinated Silvio Barbarigo and Dante Moro with help from Bartolomeo d'Alviano. In the same year, the Templars left for Cyprus to find the Apple of Eden, after examining Altair Ibn La'Ahad's Codex pages and ascertaining its location. DEFEAT OF THE TEMPLAR PUPPET In June, King Henry VII of England defeated the army of Lambert Simnel, a pretender to the English throne and Templar puppet, and imprisoned Simnel. FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE Ezio Auditore spent ten years hunting down the Templars responsible for the death of his father and brothers.
